Our Story

H.O.P.E. Heals San Antonio

(also referred to as H.O.P.E. Heals S.A.)

H.O.P.E. Heals San Antonio is a San Antonio-based nonprofit organization working to end homelessness through advocacy, education, storytelling, and relationship-building. We equip community members, stakeholders, advocates, and service providers to take informed action and improve long-term outcomes for people transitioning out of homelessness.

Vision

We envision a compassionate and connected community where every person has access to the resources, relationships, and support necessary to achieve permanent, sustainable housing. We believe housing is a human right—and that dignity, stability, and opportunity should be available to all, regardless of their circumstances.

Our Story (Continued)

Stronger Together

Hope Heals is built on firsthand experience and genuine community connection.

HHSA began with just three people, we soon called ourselves Hope Heals Coalition. Driven by the idea that our opinions would matter. Meeting on a very consistent basis we began to focus on the areas where we identified as larger gaps in services.

From mobile shower units, to a mobile laundry service, we studied areas that have been considered gaps in the services our city provides. Finally in early 2025 the coalition established itself as a standalone non profit organization and we adopted the name H.O.P.E. Heals San Antonio.

Over the years we have designed a program that teaches the community how to better serve our unsheltered population. Equipping them not just with tools and state certified trainings but also with experience and first hand knowledge on how to properly care for our community.

Using a system built from and advised entirely by people with lived experience, HHSA has devised an updated and informed method of training in real time allowing people to see how they can be better effective in their communities, in their churches and in the workplaces.

Immediate Outreach

Connecting neighbors to resources for mental and physical well-being. We provide support for Traumatic Brain Injury and mental health through group meetings, creating safe spaces for healing and connection.

Intervention

Non-confrontational street outreach that meets people where they are. We help neighbors navigate complex challenges through compassionate case management and build social networks that support those facing crisis.

Systems Advocacy

Increasing awareness for mental health needs among community stakeholders. We work to remove barriers—including streamlining ID recovery—so neighbors can access the services they deserve.

Building a Narrative of Change

Sharing success stories to inspire hope and demonstrate the power of community support. We champion youth financial literacy to foster resilience and break cycles before they begin.
